Thursday's MCFC Transfer News

According to Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo, Manchester City have entered the race for Cesc Fabregas. The 26-year-old Barcelona midfielder, who according to two recent polls is wanted out of the club by fans, has been heavily linked to Manchester United this year but reports in Spain suggest Txiki Begiristain would sign the former Arsenal man 'with his eyes closed'. Fabregas has been the subject of whistles from his own supporters in recent weeks and has informed Barcelona that he is not happy with his current situation. With Los Cules believed to be targeting Arturo Vidal, they may consider a substantial bid from the blues.

The Daily Mail believe that Manchester City could face a wage cap after being found guilty of breaching Uefa's financial fair play rules. The blues are also expected to be forced into cutting the number of players they register for next season's Champions League along with a number of considerable fines. Manchester City will learn their fate in a meeting this evening but reports suggest punishments could affect their pursuit of FC Porto's £45m duo Eliaquim Mangala and Fernando.

In other news, Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert is keen on signing Joleon Lescott according to the Telegraph. The 31-year-old defender whose contract expires this summer is believed to be in talks with Turkish club Besiktas, but Lambert could turn Lescott's head by offering him a contract at his boyhood club.
