MANCHESTER CITY 3 - 0 SWANSEA CITY

Samir savages the Swans in a parfait performance.

Samir Nasri bagged a brace on Sunday afternoon to keep Manchester City's exceptional Premier League home record shimmering. The blues have now netted 29 times at the Etihad Stadium this season and Manuel Pellegrini's march up the league table is certainly gathering pace.

Despite possessing a respectable away record so far this campaign, Laudrup's swans walked through the doors of the Etihad with only six goals to show from their travels. Shyness in front of goal coupled with City's intimidating dominance on home soil promised to concoct a curdling mix of misfortune for the Welsh side, but in truth, they began the game brightly.

The visitors, propelled by an in form Jonjo Shelvey, hogged the early possession but with no Michu or Bony to finish off their intricate one touch passing, the Swans never looked particularly threatening. City were happy to watch their guests play, knowing that any chance they were likely to get would be duly put away by the precious partnership of 'Beauty and the Beast' up top.

After just 8 minutes, the Beast roared. The Spaniard expertly curled in past the static Guy Tremmel from a 25 yard free kick to allay any fears the home crowd may have gathered and City were in front at home once again.

Alvaro Negredo netted his 12th goal of the season for City on Sunday.

Swansea replied in impressive fashion as Shelvey and De Guzman linked up beautifully to create the best chance of the game. The Dutchman found himself one on one with a helpless Costel Pantillimon but could only smash a glorious opportunity over the bar.

Missed chances were becoming characteristic of Swansea's play and after realising it wasn't going to be their visitors day, a fortunate Manchester City side began to control the game after the break. Samir Nasri was begging for Sergio Aguero to net his 11th league goal of the season, but the plucky Argentinian was showing a surprising lack of luck in front of goal.

In the end, the flashy Frenchman took it upon himself to seal the game. On 55 minutes, Yaya Toure slipped a tremendously timed ball into the feet of Samir Nasri who rounded Ashley Williams and finished perfectly.

Samir Nasri and Yaya Toure celebrate City's second.

The Frenchman's performance was typical of his form so far this year and City fans are finally starting to see the world class player we paid £24m for. But he wasn't finished there, and twenty minutes later, he bagged his second of the game to seal his side the three points.

Pablo Zabaleta bombed down the wing to play in Nasri who cooly finished with his weaker foot into the bottom corner of Tremmel's net. In Silva's absence, Nasri has made a habit of controlling proceedings and the skill and technical ability he brings to the plate is a joy to watch.

Nasri expresses his delight after scoring his second of the afternoon.

Excitement at the 'Home of Goals' may not be available for the next two weeks, but away fixtures at West Bromwich and Southampton will ultimately shape our title push.
