Marca: City agree summer deal for Suárez

According to Spanish newspaper Marca, Manchester City have reached an agreement with Luis Suárez's representatives that will see the Uruguayan play his football at the Etihad Stadium next season.

The report suggests Txiki Begiristain, City's director of football, has been in contact with the striker who is happy to make the switch this summer. Suárez, who signed a new four-and-a-half-year contract with Liverpool in December, is the Premier League's leading goalscorer with 25 goals and has formed a deadly partnership with former City striker Daniel Sturridge for the Merseysiders this season. The new deal successfully allayed Liverpool supporter's fears that their star man could be on his way after a summer of uncertainty last year when the Uruguayan was reportedly close to securing a move to Arsenal. However, Brendan Rodgers and his team did a remarkable job to keep hold of the forward who publicly announced his desire to play Champions League football.

Suárez's pledge of allegience to the club has certainly benefited Brendan Rodger's side who find themselves four points behind league leaders Chelsea with one game in hand. With just nine league games left to play, it would require a miracle for Liverpool to not secure the Champions League football Suárez so desperately craves, but Marca believe the striker had already made his decision to join up with Manuel Pellegrini's men.

Inevitably, the arrival of Suárez would force Pellegrini into selling one of his four strikers, and despite being linked with a number of clubs this season, Marca believe Edin Džeko's future at the club is safe. Instead, the newspaper cite Álvaro Negredo as the player most likely to make way for Suárez after suffering a worrying dip in form in the latter stages of the 2013/2014 Premier League campaign.

Whether the rumour has any foundation or not, it's a proposition worth salivating over!
